Early Career Training Programme
Early Career Teacher Programme
We deliver the statutory ECT training across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands, in partnership with Education Development Trust (EDT).
We believe the first years of a teacher’s career are vitally important for professional development and the best time to develop good habits and effective teaching strategies. We are therefore highly committed to ensuring that all new teachers receive the best possible support, opportunities and development during their induction period.
The ECTP is a national statutory programme that provides teachers with the essential specialist support they need to improve their practice and build confidence  in the first two years of their profession.  It arms them with skills they can use in the classroom straight away and offers the structured support needed to help them be the best teachers they can be.
We offer both the Appropriate Body and ECTP services for schools, which means we are able to connect both services for schools and ECTs making the experience much more streamlined and personalised for ECT, mentor and Tutor.
Registering your ECTs
If you have ECTs starting in September 2026, registration will open on 15th June 2026. We highly recommend registering your ECT(s) before the end of the summer term where possible, so both the ECT and mentor can hit the ground running at the start of the new term.
Induction Tutors will be sent an email from the DfE with a link to get started. If you are new to ECTs or haven’t had one for a while, get in touch with Efi, our programme coordinator, ezouroulidi@flyinghightrust.co.uk who can help you get started.
ECTs who start after September 2025 complete the new Early Career Training Programme. ECTs who started their induction before this date should continue with the ECF.
Our Offer
We deliver the ECTP through a combination of online self study courses, webinars and face-to-face events which runs alongside the two years of induction.
Our offer includes:
- Fully funded, high-quality training for ECTs and their mentors
- Funding to release ECT and mentors for professional development time
- Research led, evidence informed training with enhanced focus on SEND, literacy and oracy
- Face-to-face and virtual events delivered by specialist facilitators,

Funding
For those eligible for the fully funded route, the training is free of charge. Payment is made at the end of induction to cover the release time for mentors and ECTs to complete their training.
If your school is not following the fully funded route, you can access ECTP materials to deliver your own. This is subject to fidelity checks by your Appropriate Body.
