Glowing report says, 鈥楶upils鈥 behaviour is outstanding鈥.
South Normanton鈥檚 The Green Flying High Academy has received a glowing report from Ofsted which found the school to be outstanding in all areas.

The opening paragraph of the report reads, 鈥楶upils at The Green Flying High Academy enjoy an exceptional standard of education. They benefit from the highest-quality teaching, day in and day out. No moment is wasted, and nothing is left to chance. All pupils thrive at this ambitious and supportive school. Pupils鈥 achievements are remarkable.鈥
Pupils鈥 behaviour is described by the report as 鈥榦utstanding鈥 and goes on to say they have 鈥榓 zest and a thirst for learning. They are incredibly enthusiastic and really keen to share all the wonderful things they know and can do.鈥
Jess Smith is Headteacher at the school and she said, 鈥淭he outstanding outcome for our school, our community, our staff and our children is just incredible. It is testament to the hard work, care, love and dedication of Team Green, the overwhelmingly positive support that we have had from our school community, parents and families, and the determination and enthusiasm of our children to be the best that they can possibly be. Our community and our children deserve everyday excellence, and we are very proud that this has been recognised in our school.鈥
Inspectors said the school is cheerful and happy and that parents are full of admiration for the school, commenting, 鈥楶arents recognise and appreciate the improvements that have taken place since The Green joined Flying High Trust.鈥
Published outcomes at the school show that children achieve consistently well in reading, writing, and mathematics, and learning is grounded on a curriculum carefully designed to meet children鈥檚 needs.
Inspectors said, 鈥楽taff are experts in the teaching of reading.聽 As a result, pupils quickly become confident, accurate and fluent readers.鈥
Support for pupils with SEND was found to be effective and was highlighted in the report saying, 鈥楽taff adapt the curriculum well so that pupils with SEND can access the curriculum and be successful. Consequently, disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND achieve very well in all subjects.鈥
Early years provision is described as 鈥榝irst rate鈥 stating, 鈥楽uch high-quality experiences in the early years provide the foundation for the impeccable learning behaviours that pupils exhibit throughout the school.鈥
Inspectors said children鈥檚 鈥榮piritual, moral, social and cultural education is an intrinsic feature of school life. Through high-quality stories, for instance, pupils learn about people鈥檚 differences, what it means to be a good friend and how to be safe and healthy. Well-chosen curriculum content means that pupils learn about equality and diversity in all subjects. The school鈥檚 programme of character education is exemplary. It supports pupils in becoming resilient, independent and respectful. Pupils make the most of the wide range of clubs, roles, events and trips on offer to develop their talents and interests.鈥
Staff report being proud to work at the school, which is based on New Street, South Normanton, saying they feel 鈥榲alued, supported and empowered鈥 at work.
Safeguarding and Governance at the school are effective and inspectors found, 鈥楲eaders at the school and from the trust, including those responsible for governance, check closely on all aspects of the school鈥檚 work to ensure that their vision is being realised and that pupils constantly receive the very best.鈥
